Hema Maps

At Redlands 4WD Centre we have heaps of Hema Maps for you to choose from.

Many of you may think that Hema Maps is a funny name and wonder from where it came. It's really very simple: the "He" part is short for Henry and the "ma" part is short for Margaret who together are the founders and owners of Hema Maps.

Hema Maps Pty Ltd is a Brisbane-based private company. Hema Maps also has a subsidiary's in New Zealand called Hema Maps NZ Limited and in North America called Hema Maps North America. New Zealand is run by General Manager Ed Brown and North America is run by President Chris Knoebel and they operate independently of the parent company on operational issues but with all the backup and support of Hema Maps in Australia.

In 1983, Hema Maps started distributing the Queensland Government's mapping range within the state. 1989 saw the expansion into national distribution and the addition of some international maps to the range as well as other government and privately published Australian titles. 1989 also saw Hema Maps publish their first map - Rockhampton, a central Queensland city in which Hema had established a very strong market presence. Ever since, Hema Maps have made a name for themselves with the resources they spend and the substantial fieldwork they perform to gather information and update maps. (Don't forget to say hello to the mapping team when you see the Map Patrol out in the countryside ... it turns up in the most unexpected places!)

These days, Hema Maps publishes more than 200 map titles of their own and distributes an unequalled range of maps, travel guides, globes and other products around the world, representing more than fifty publishers. We have active sales representatives in every state and territory throughout Australia as well as international distributors that make Hema's maps available in more than 38 countries around the world.

Yes, Hema Maps has come a long way and grown substantially but we still retain all the good qualities of the family company that we are. Our forty staff members have an average service of eight years and some have been with Hema from the very start. However, it isn't in our nature as a company to sit and be happy with where we are; we still see tremendous opportunities for mapping products that are needed and where those products should be sold. Hema Maps is now actively mapping the Pacific and Asia and we fully intend to continue offering the very best mapping and geographic information to all possible markets. A lofty aim to be sure, but when Hema Maps first starting as a mapping company, everyone asked "How can you make money out of maps?". Twenty-five years later, Hema Maps is going stronger than ever and as a company we continue to look to the future.
